How Does the 2019 VW Arteon Sports Sedan Perform?

2019 Volkswagen Arteon Drivetrain and Powertrain Features

It’s been awhile since we’ve talked about the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon. However, there’s been a lot of movement from Volkswagen since then. Although we don’t have a full list of features and specs concerning the 2019 VW Arteon, Volkswagen has begun to release new details to tease the upcoming release of their revolutionary new sports sedan.

Very much by its look, and blatantly by its classification as a sports sedan, the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon lets drivers know that it will very much be a performance-based model. This sets it quite apart from the Passat and Jetta sedans models in the VW catalog. So, what can drivers expect from Volkswagen’s brand-new model? To determine its performance specs and features, we decided to look under the hood at the powertrain and at its wheelbase to examine the drivetrain. This is what we’ve found:

2019 Volkswagen Arteon Powertrain

First, under the hood is the powertrain, though more specifically the engine as a starting point. The 2019 Volkswagen Arteon will, at least in its baseline trim level, be equipped with a 2L turbocharged, direct-injection TSI® engine. Although only 2 liters, this lightweight engine produces up to 268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.

When in the driver’s seat, the 2019 VW Arteon is controlled through a standard 8-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, the 2019 Arteon comes with DCC® adaptive chassis control. Basically, this is a driving mode selection function, although much more precise. DCC® adaptive chassis control lets the driver experiment and find their favorite feel when behind the wheel.

Many sports cars and roadsters only come with rear-wheel drive as a standard inclusion. However, the power generated by the engine can be funneled into Volkswagen’s iconic 4MOTION® all-wheel drive with the 2019 VW Arteon. Expertly distributing power for traction and stability, 4MOTION® all-wheel drive is another excellent standard inclusion for the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon.

When Does the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon Release?

Why is the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon Delayed Until Spring 2019?

2019 VW Arteon Delayed for Emissions Certification We might have mentioned that the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon was expected soon. The 2019 VW Arteon was expected to have a USA release date in the late fall of 2018. However, that is no longer the case as the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon has been temporarily delayed. Now tentatively scheduled for a USA release date of spring 2019, the delay is due to the Arteon waiting on its emissions certification. more 2019 Volkswagen Arteon American and European Emissions Testing The 2019 Volkswagen Arteon is actually all approved and ready to go for America. So, why hasn’t it been released, you might ask? The answer to this question is a bit complicated, but we’ll try to explain it as simply as we can. Currently, Europe is undergoing a transitional period concerning changes to its emissions standards testing. Previously, Europe was guided by the New European Driving Cycle which basically functions as a European equivalent to the USA’s EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) for automotive vehicles. However, now Europe is adopting the Worldwide Harmonized Light-Duty Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP). Due to this change, there is an extensive backlog as Volkswagen waits for the 2019 VW Arteon to be greenlit/approved. So, although the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon is approved by America’s EPA standards, Volkswagen is still waiting for its European emissions certification. As a European company, Volkswagen is waiting for the new 2019 Arteon to be approved and released in Europe before moving it forward in America. A choice to preserve its legacy and prioritize the European market, this is however likely costing the German automotive company a great deal of American sales in the meantime.

What is a Tire Rotation?

To help prevent one or more of your tires from wearing down too rapidly, regular tire rotations should be performed according to the maintenance schedule for your particular make and model. This service can help prolong the life of your tires, saving you time and money in the long run. What’s more? Tire rotation service is important for maintaining traction, preventing blowouts, and improving fuel economy. If you want your tires to operate safely and last as long as possible on Vineland roads, regular tire rotations are an easy way to achieve this. more Service Center Schedule Service What Does it Mean to Rotate Tires? What is tire rotation, exactly? During this process, tires are moved from one position on a vehicle to another. For a majority of vehicles, the front tires will move to the rear and the rear tires will move to the front. They may also change sides depending on the recommended tire rotation pattern for your car, truck, or SUV. Here are a few tire rotation basics to keep in mind: Most cars carry more weight at the front, so it is likely that your front tires will show signs of wear sooner. However, your vehicle’s drivetrain also affects the rate at which each tire wears down. If you have a front-wheel drive vehicle, engine power is distributed to the front axle and wheels to produce forward motion. With this drivetrain, the front tires will wear down faster than they would in rear-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, or four-wheel drive vehicles. The drivetrain of your vehicle also affects the tire rotation pattern, which is designed to ensure that no tire wears down too fast compared to the whole set of tires. Benefits of a Tire Rotation Maintains Traction: When tires wear down, they lose tire tread depth. If your tires do not have enough tread, it can compromise their performance on the roads of Washington Township and beyond. Preventing uneven tire wear helps ensure that all tires have the same amount of tread. Prevents Blowouts: As tires begin to deteriorate, the more likely a blowout is to occur. Tire blowouts are not only scary, they can be dangerous as well. Improves Performance: Tires with an uneven wear pattern can cause vibration that can be felt in the steering wheel. Maximizes Efficiency: Worn tires create drag, and this can lead to higher fuel consumption. Trust Volkswagen of Salem County for Top-Notch Tire Care A tire rotation is recommended every 5,000 to 7,500 miles –essentially at every scheduled service interval. Keep in mind that this may vary based on your make and model, so it is a good idea to consult your owner’s manual to see what the automaker suggests. If it is time for a tire rotation, set up an appointment at Volkswagen of Salem County. You can also contact us with any questions.
