FAQ
Which vehicles come with the Lifetime Powertrain Coverage?
The coverage covers most new and pre-owned vehicles from the current year to 5 model years old with less than 80,000 miles at the time of purchase.
How long is the Lifetime Powertrain Coverage really good for?
The coverage is valid for as long as you own the vehicle – for an unlimited time and unlimited miles.
How much will it cost?
Zero. We’re trying to make “Customers for Life” so the Lifetime Powertrain Coverage comes standard with every qualifying New and Pre-Owned vehicle and is included at no extra charge.
Where am I covered by the Lifetime Powertrain Coverage?
The Lifetime Powertrain Coverage is only valid in the Continental United States.
Is the Lifetime Powertrain Coverage transferable if I sell the vehicle?
No. The Lifetime Powertrain stays with you as long as you own the vehicle and it is not transferable.
What is Covered under the Lifetime Powertrain Coverage?
The major systems will be covered including engine, transmission, drivetrain, and cooling and fuel system. This coverage is not related to the manufacturers coverage and is over and above your manufacturer’s warranty. See a copy of the Lifetime Limited Powertrain agreement for specific components that are covered.
What maintenance will I need to do?
No extra maintenance is required, simply follow the scheduled maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer. To maintain the Lifetime Powertrain Coverage you must provide copies of your service records in the event you have a mechanical failure.
If I have to get my vehicle repaired under the Lifetime Powertrain Coverage do I have to get authorization before filing a claim?
Yes. You must call the administrator of the program to get pre-authorization before any work can be performed. If you fail to get authorization your claim could be restricted or denied.
What’s the catch?
There are no catches, hidden fees, or games. Our dealership provides this coverage as an added value to our customers for doing business with us. The only “catch”? You have to buy your vehicle from VW of Salem County.
